Francine Lancelot was a specialist in historical dances from the Renaissance and the Baroque periods, as well as traditional dances. Author of a thesis in historical ethnology, her skills encompassed those of dancer, actress, choreographer, choreologue and teacher.

She choreographed two ballets for the Paris Opera, “Bach Suite” (1984) and “Quelques pas graves de Baptiste” (1985), both commissioned by Rudolf Nureyev.
